The conference is organized according to three tracks: Research, Policy, and Practice. You may attend sessions in any of the three tracks.
Research
The Research track will showcase the finalists in the Federal Reserve System and CFED?s call for research papers. Potential topics include the current state of wealth inequality, the role of tax policy in asset accumulation, saving for retirement, and the costs of asset stripping, just to name a few. Equally important are sessions that will be offered by leading research organizations in the United States and abroad. Together these sessions will help to further the asset-building research agenda.
Policy
The Policy track will examine asset-building policy initiatives at the local, tribal, state, federal, and international levels. Sessions will address policy issues pertinent at all stages of life, from children?s savings to retirement policy. Topics will include asset limits, children?s savings accounts, financial education, IDAs, bankruptcy, credit, tax policy, retirement, and more. Policy track sessions will provide guidance for practitioners to actively engage in promoting such initiatives.
Practice
The Practice track will feature current and emerging effective practices in asset building from across the United States and around the globe. From disaster preparedness to serving multi-cultural markets, experienced practitioners will share concrete ways to enhance asset building for families, communities, and economies, including best practices for operating IDA programs.
